Christmas time is the most wonderful time of the year. It’s definitely the time when churches are packed with people looking to gather with family and celebrate the season. That’s why, at Outdoor Lighting Perspectives, we help many churches in the Kansas City area create bright and warm welcomes for their congregations. If you are the decision maker for your church, here are some areas to pay special attention to when considering outdoor lighting.
Parking Lot Lighting
It is critical to have sufficient lighting in parking lots for safety and security. Not only do people need to be able to make it to the church from their cars and back, but sufficient lighting also keeps criminals at bay. A dark parking lot full of empty vehicles with a clear timeline of when the drivers will return is sometimes too tempting for neighboring crooks.
This time of year, snow and ice make walkways tricky to navigate. Considering that daylight hours are shorter and church members include elderly individuals, well-lit pathways to and from the church are critical.
Church Doors and Entryways
Congregational members tend to gather at doorways greeting each other on the way in and out of services. Good lighting helps to encourage this interaction. And don’t forget the added bonus of illuminating the beautiful wreaths, ribbons, and other holiday decorations bedecking the doors.
Washing the exterior walls of your church will add an ethereal mood and illuminate the front and sides of your building. You can even add colored lights to change it up a bit.
Trees and Bushes
Uplighting trees and bushes to accentuate their spreading canopies will not only enhance the surrounding landscape during the holiday season, but will provide visual interest and beauty year round.
If your church could use better outdoor lighting in any of these areas, give Outdoor Lighting Perspectives a call at (913) 859-9150 or contact us online and we’ll be happy to help.
